ENABLE-TAAT: Empowering Novel Agri-business Led Employment, an enabler-compact under the Technologies for African Agricultural Transformation (TAAT) program led by the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) through its Youth in Agribusiness initiative.

The Youth Enabler compact focuses on scaling TAAT’s key technologies and stimulating youth-led agribusiness start-ups in nine commodity value chains:  Rice, Orange-Fleshed Sweet Potato, Cassava, Aquaculture, Wheat, Sorghum/Millet, Maize, Livestock and High Iron Bean.

ENABLE-TAAT is implemented in Benin, DR Congo, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, and Nigeria having four stations –Abuja, Ibadan, Imo and Onne.

ABOUT THE PROJECT

ENABLE-TAAT links the ambition and enthusiasm of youth to the planned modernization of nine strategic commodity value chains in a manner that leads to new agribusinesses, greater employment opportunities, reduces food imports, increases value addition, and achieves nutritional security in Africa. We connect youth to the process of agricultural transformation necessary to secure economic prosperity through youth-led agribusinesses.

Our core mandate is not just to train youth, but to transform the youth into “Agripreneurs” who are making a livelihood from agribusiness value chains, and able to replicate their successes in their communities. Specifically, the compact has an objective to reduce the economic marginalization of youth in Africa. The TAAT platform makes it easy to achieve this with improved varieties, technologies, expertise and access to value chain education.

THE FINAL LANDSCAPE DESIGN

Our landscape division has many years of experience in all phases of landscaping and our customer focused approach makes the landscape experience just that, an experience. We want our customers to be there from the moment we get to the job until the end of the job so that they can have as much input in the project as possible.

We understand that your property is a big investment and we want our customers to know that we are there for them to help them accomplish the dreams that they may have for there property.

Compact Operations

Enable TAAT provides a good networking forum for farmers and youth to share different ideas and knowledge about agribusiness as a means of developing their capacity, promoting, and showcasing products of youth-led enterprises to increase their income.

Through youth advocacy programs, we guide youth toward agribusiness incubation and youth-led enterprise development. To achieve this objective, ENABLE-TAAT crafts partnership with other youth empowerment projects or fora, donor community, governmental agencies, private institutions, with the aim to reach a large number youth from every sector.

Agribusiness advocacy helps the youth to see the opportunities across value chains. Apart from youth, rural farming communities often benefit from such programs and request for mentorship or linkage with improved planting varieties.Youth advocacy assumes a number of forms: Open field day events, conferences, focus group discussions, panel discussions, exhibition programs, media materials and promotional materials.

ENABLE-TAAT has successfully carried out advocacy programs in Republic of Benin, Cameroon, Democratic Republic of Congo, Kenya, Nigeria, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia. With an initial target of 115, 500 youth in Africa, the compact has reached up to 116,622 youth across host countries, motivating them to develop agribusiness careers and providing required support.
